Leadership Tri-County is a 9-month leadership development program that provides participants with the opportunity to learn about the Tri-County area (Knox, Laurel, and Whitley), develop their leadership skills, and make a difference in their community. The program is open to professionals from all industries and backgrounds.

Many communities are experiencing a decline in traditional civic engagement, but there's a growing movement to revitalize connection and participation. Community leadership development programs are designed to equip individuals with the skills, knowledge, and networks necessary to become effective community leaders. We contribute to advancing the Tri-County area by enhancing participants' understanding of community dynamics, fostering collaboration, developing problem-solving abilities, and promoting civic engagement.

What to Expect

  • An initial overnight Orientation session, where participants learn more about Leadership Tri-County, each other, and themselves through intentional leadership development workshops. Following Orientation, participants experience seven additional community-based sessions in Knox, Whitley, and Laurel County.

  • One day a month (on a Friday, unless otherwise noted), participants learn about one sector of community life through engaging panel discussions, tours, and workshops. Sectors include:

    • Law & Justice

    • Economic Development

    • Healthcare and Human Services

    • Education

    • Tourism

    • Communications

    • Government

  • At the conclusion of the program, participants will receive a plaque at the graduation ceremony and join a network of over 600 LTC Alumni.

Investment

Tuition for the Class of 2027 is $500. This includes meals, snacks, overnight accommodations for two sessions, professional development sessions, and more. Participants are responsible for their own travel to and from session locations.
